Resources for new English language and literature IB course

Next year the English Department begins a new English Language and Literature IB course which, to quote from Mr. Daniel Stamp, our English teacher, “deals with a wider definition of the text than the literary and considers non-fiction texts such as: advertisements, messages, email, film, magazines and so on.”

In order to support the English Department's delivery of the course, the library has acquired, on recommendation from Mr. Stamp, the following books and set up a display in the Upper Library.  The texts covers a range of topics to help students develop a critical understanding of the English language theories and research relating to educational , linguistic and sociolinguistic issues that will be invaluable in preparing students for further studies in a wide range of fields.
